Complete WIP list for 2020


I thought I would organize myself and see exactly how much damage I have done with the many starts I have had over the years. Here is current WIP list as of January 2020.


So far I have had two finishes in 2020. (highlighted in orange)
St. Nicholas by Tralala (forgot to put it on my list) and Oranges by DMC

At the bottom of the list I have a few WIPs I want to start too but from the looks of this list, I may put those starts off until I get a good handle on the WIPs I do have in progress right now.

Here are the stats:

6 Stitch Maynia starts still to complete. 1 from 2017 and 5 from 2018. 
I did not participate in Stitch Maynia in 2019 (one asterisk)

I have 16 full coverage pieces started. (they are highlighted in light yellow)
I know! I'm crazy. Who starts that many full coverage pieces?

1 WIP from 2008
4 WIPs from 2015
2 WIPs from 2016 (one UFO from 2016)
12 WIPs from 2017
11 WIPs from 2018
5 WIPs from 2019

This is a total of 37 WIPs

As far as I can tell, I should have no starts in 2020. I really want new starts but look at this WIP list? It is crazy town! Currently, I am going to put away most all of my Full Coverage and just focus on those 21 WIPs that are smaller and more in need of love.

I have been undecided about all the stitch challenge groups on Facebook. They are fun and all but I get too much into the game of it instead of the stitching. Truthfully, my favorite challenges are the ones where you pick whatever WIP you want and do a certain number of stitches.

    Good luck on your goals. I don't care how many WIPs I have as long as I love stitching them haha. I am going to try to finish one slot before I add one. We'll see if I stick to it.

Word of the Year and 2020 Goals

Last year my word of the year was FOCUS.  I am afraid I was anything but focused last year. I did get 20 cross stitch finishes and read 431 books (okay, listened to 431 books, same thing) in 2019. In some ways I was very focused. I have never read that many books in a year in my life. But in May I lost my stitchy bug and had a stitching drought that lasted until sometime in September. I keep looking at all the shiny and new patterns and wanted to keep starting things and it is mighty hard to just keep working on my current WIP pile. They seem old and dusty and well… old. 2nd Finish of 2020

My second finish of 2020 is Oranges by DMC.  I am not sure if this pattern is still available. I got it as a .PAT pattern for my stitch design program back in the day before anything online was ever a thing. You could send away for this pattern by giving DMC a self-addressed stamped envelope.  It has a sister pattern called Bluebird Peaches that was my first ever big project probably back in 2002. Floss Organization 101

FLOSS ORGANIZATION 101 I have been cross stitching since the mid-80's and have never organized my thread stash. It always has been a trial looking for specific numbers but I was just too lazy, and as my stash grew, intimidated to conquer even the thought of it. On Sunday afternoon I had enough of the searching! I decided then and there to organize the heck out of my floss! Next time I will set-up a large table with a chair to make this easier. Trying to put all the little bobbins in the correct order was a challenge.  First, I had to empty my eleven floss boxes and dump them on my bed. Then I tediously put them into piles: 100s, 200s, 300s, etc. The 700 series, the 900 series and the 3700 & 3800 series had the most bobbins. I had to sit on the floor to stretch out and organize it all. I ended up with a crick in my back and a notion that I really need to stretch more. I am happy with the result.
